About the Program
East Oakland Collective’s Food & Supply Distribution Program provides free, nutritious groceries and essential supplies to Deep East Oakland residents, prioritizing unhoused neighbors, seniors, people with disabilities, and families experiencing food insecurity.
Deep East Oakland is located within a food apartheid where historic and systemic inequities have created significant barriers to accessing affordable, fresh, and nutritious foods. EOC is working to combat these systemic conditions by providing free groceries and essential supplies to 500+ households each week, expanding access to nutritious food while advancing food justice and community self-determination.
What We Provide
Weekly Grocery Distribution
Shelf-stable staples and household essentials distributed every week.
Fresh Produce & Groceries
Fresh fruit, vegetables, protein, dairy, bread, grains, and other nutritious groceries.
Diaper Distribution
Free diapers and essential supplies for local families with young children.
Things to Know
- Food and supply giveaways are held weekly on Thursdays, 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM. Closed on major holidays.
- There are no eligibility requirements. No ID or other documentation is required to receive free groceries.
- Groceries are available on a first come, first served basis.
- Please expect a line and wait time. Community members who are age 65 or older, disabled, or pregnant are prioritized in line.
- Street parking only. Please follow safe parking rules and do not block neighbors’ driveways.
What We Serve
Based on availability, groceries may include fresh produce such as fruit and vegetables, protein such as canned, frozen, or fresh meat, dairy including milk, eggs, and cheese, bread, pastries, cereal, grains, and more.
We source our food from local farms and the Alameda County Community Food Bank. We also recover food from local stores such as Whole Foods, Target, FoodMaxx, Trader Joe’s, and Sprouts.
Based on availability, household items may include toilet tissue, paper towels, cleaning supplies, hygiene supplies, and other essentials.

Registration Is Required
Registration is required and available onsite. No ID or documentation is required. Clients should bring their Alameda County Community Food Bank membership card or register onsite for a card.
This membership card allows anyone to receive food at any site throughout Alameda County that uses the membership card system.
