Volunteer

East Oakland Collective engages and supports hundreds of volunteers each year who are committed to strengthening our community through service, mutual aid, and collective care. We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds, skill levels, and experiences—from neighbors looking to give back, students seeking service-learning opportunities to individuals completing community service requirements.

Whether you are volunteering on your own or as part of a family, faith community, school, civic organization, or corporate team, there is a meaningful way to get involved. No prior experience is required for most volunteer opportunities. Our staff provide orientation, training, and ongoing support to ensure every volunteer feels prepared and valued.

Volunteers play an essential role across all of East Oakland Collective's programs and services, including our weekly Free Grocery Program, monthly Older Adult/Senior Coffee Hours, quarterly Freecycle Thrift Store Pop-Up events, quarterly Feed the Hood outreach events, community resource distributions, special events, and other initiatives that promote food security, health, wellness, and community resilience throughout Deep East Oakland.
